Ep 176 Square

Episode 176

Brianna Reiser is the VP of Experience at Toothpillow. Here is her bio in her own words:

I’m Brianna, and I’ve had the privilege of working in dentistry for over 14 years. My journey took a pivotal turn five years ago when I lost my mother after her long battle with sleep apnea. Her struggle opened my eyes to the crucial role airway health plays in overall well-being, and it ignited a deep passion in me to spread awareness about airway care. Now, as Vice President at Toothpillow, I’m honored to be part of a team that’s helping thousands of families access vital airway support. Every day, I’m driven by the mission to make sure no one has to face what my mother did, and I’m committed to making airway health a priority for as many people as possible.

In this episode, Bree & I talk about:

  • Bree’s very personal reasons she got into airway dentistry
  • How losing her mom to sleep apnea changed her
  • Toothpillow’s education component—it’s not just a device
  • 175 – my latest episode on airway dentistry
  • Why do parents need to be aware airway dentistry
  • The epidemic of underdeveloped jaws in children
  • Examining the bandaid approach of taking out wisdom teeth
  • The role of our diet in airway development
  • Our culture isn’t conducive to supporting breastfeeding
  • Developing our palates: “big, beautiful arches”
  • Straightening teeth without acknowledging the root cause of crooked teeth
  • Addressing face muscles in addition to teeth
  • What Toothpillow is
  • The 3 devices on the market: healthy start habit corrector, Myo brace, & Vivos guides
  • Guides are only ONE piece of the puzzle—Toothpillow is a whole program
  • Toothpillow is a 2 year program
  • The importance of nasal hygiene
  • Healthy face exercises – myofunctional exercises
  • Tongue tie component/assessment
  • The Toothpillow app
  • Virtual dental assistant—a real person assigned to you on the app
  • A dentist is assigned to you in the app
  • Compliance—will my kid actually wear the device?
  • Symptom reduction
  • Moms helping other moms
  • Not just a big business model—not all children who apply are a good fit for Toothpillow (30% of applicants are turned away)
  • Symptoms to look for: bed wetting, adhd, mouth breathing, nightmares/terrors, night waking, and more
  • Telehealth concerns
  • You don’t get lost in the program…Toothpillow reps are always available to answer questions
  • Toothpillow as an affordable option—they get to lower the cost by taking out the brick and mortar component
  • A holistic approach to airway health
  • Toothpillow was born out of pure necessity—they needed to make it accessible on a larger scale
  • The difference between fixed expanders and Toothpillow.
  • If you need to get fixed expanders, get upper and lower expanders.
  • Face muscles need to be addressed with expanders otherwise they can/will experience relapse
  • The tongue is strong—it’s nature’s palate expander and retainer
  • Complience—how do we get our kids

My review:

  • Daughter been using it for over 4 months
  • Her sleep is better, no more night terrors, dark circles disappearing, face shape changing, less mouth breathing, and she has more energy.
  • She even told me the other day, “When I wear my toothpillow, my tongue just knows where to go.”
  • We’ve had nothing but wins with Toothpillow so far!
